jBoom 2.5

Thursday, January 13, 2011

JBoom has developed a Java-based application to help you the remote storage and management of browser bookmarks.

JBoom offers the possibility of a centralized set of bookmarks from any system with Internet access.

JBoom is browser and system independent, not tied to a dedicated server and requires no special web service. The only requirements are:
It is a remote system to which the user read / write access via FTP, SSH, or HTTP.

The bookmarks are stored in a XML file on the remote system. A local copy is stored on the client. The program can be started by the customer or over the Internet from an HTTP server.

Bookmark entries consist of any name, a URL and an optional comment (description, user name, account number, etc.). You are in folders, each folder contains subfolders and any number of bookmarks organized. The graphical user interface shows this structure as a tree with expandable and collapsible nodes.

Double-clicking an item or by pressing the Enter button, the page correspond to the browser. In addition, a linear search of the name and / or URLs is possible. New entries can be created manually or by using the browser on the system clipboard, existing can be modified, deleted, moved or easily sorted.

For FTP connections, use JBoom ftpbean classes from the package for SSH connections classes from the Ganymede project (extracted with autojar).

JBoom main features:

# Users and / or browsers often have access to a single set of bookmarks.
# JBoom is not a browser extension, it must be started separately. Therefore, the browser will not hang on startup with an unreachable server.
# Several JBoom files can be linked; inserted files appear as separate branches in the bookmark tree. These branches can be updated or deleted by a single click.
# Installation is simple and requires only an FTP or SSH connection.

JBoom requirements:

# Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5 or higher
