The mini software Notepad GNU has many advantages to recommend on its own, which includes optional background transparency, loads of HTML and other code-minded plug-ins. Notepad GNU is free for Windows systems only.

Notepad GNU can quickly send a file to a browser or other applications menu and all the text tweaking tools. You do not need Office any more. However it doesn't offer everything for users but it's made up of a different layout and settings.
